Breast Cancer Prevention Tips
While we search for the cure for breast cancer, we must not forget about prevention.
Breast Cancer Prevention Tips
Eat cancer-preventing foods with antioxidants, such as:
EGCGs found in green tea and matcha.
Carotenoids like lycopene, found in red fruits such as tomatoes.
Resveratrol, found in grapes and berries.
Quercetin, an anti-oxidant, found in citrus fruits, red onion, broccoli and leafy greens.
Sulforaphane, an essential nutrient for breaking down estrogens, found in cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and Brussels sprouts
Exercise regularly. Exercise lowers inflammatory chemicals in the body that promote cancer such as IGF-1.
Support detoxification.
Poop every day
Stay hydrated - drink at least 60oz of water per day
Sweat at least 4-5x per week
Support your liver with the proper co-factors (magnesium, B12, Vitamin C, etc.) to support detoxification.
3. Avoid toxins in your personal care and cleaning products, many of which are hormone disruptors. Turn to the Environmental Working Group’s app Skin Deep to find researched clean products.
4. Lower stress. Stress is inflammatory. The health risks of divorce, for instance, are as significant as those of smoking tobacco. Learn tools to lower your stress - spend time outdoors, exercise, prioritize sleep, journal about the positives, yoga, meditate, breathwork, laugh more, etc.
5. Avoid excess alcohol and quit smoking. These substances are each directly linked to breast cancer risk.
