My Favorite Detoxifying Green Juice

Did you know parsley is a major detoxifier?!

There are two main kinds of parsley, Curly Leaf (French) and Flat Leaf (Italian). While both have very similar benefits, Italian Parsley is more closely related to wild parsley grown in the Mediterranean. It is easier to grow and has a stronger flavor than French.

Parsley is full of antioxidants, essential oils and is often called a superfood. It has been used for centuries as a natural detox remedy, anti-inflammatory agent, and diuretic.

Benefits of Parsley

High in Vitamins. Parsley is high in a few different vitamins, including:

  • Vitamin K- Great for maintaining bone density and preventing bone fractures and breaks.

  • Vitamin C- Helps with immunity by maintaining gut health, where most of your immune system lives.

  • Vitamin A- Fights aging of the skin and protects eyes from UV rays.

Rich in Antioxidants:

Parsley is full of antioxidants that fight free radical damage and help with slowing down the aging process. Most age-related diseases are tied to free radical damage, including cancer, heart disease, eye disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.

Relieves Bloating:

Parsley stimulates your kidney’s production of urine and pulls the extra water out of the abdomen. Excess water in your kidneys can cause indigestion and discomfort. In addition, parsley can also lower your risk of kidney stones and help reduce acidity in your body, by regulating pH.

Parsley is so versatile to use. It’s on my grocery list every week.

I love chopping up parsley to add to salads, sauteed veggies, lentil pasta, pesto, making tabbouleh or my favorite Mediterranean lentil salad recipe.

I also love to juice parsley. It’s the perfect way to start your morning and support detoxification.

Here is my go-to recipe (serves 2):

  • 1/2 bunch celery

  • 1 cucumber

  • 5 kale leaves

  • 1 green apple

  • One bunch of parsley (stems included)

  • 1 lemon

  • 1 inch of fresh ginger

I use the Omega Juicer. It’s easy to use and easy to clean!
