Chimichurri sauce is a herbaceous condiment, delicious on avocado toast, veggies, seafood, chicken, and more! My favorite way to use this sauce is to serve it with grilled shrimp and veggies. If you’re local in Charleston, you can order this dish from Atlyss Food Co., a meal delivery service offering healthy meals to your door.

Chimichurri sauce is loaded with fresh herbs, like parsley, oregano, & cilantro, making it a health-promoting condiment. Herbs are packed with medicinal properties. In fact, herbs have been used for their medicinal properties for thousands of years, in particular, Chinese Medicine. Herbal medicine is an integral part of Chinese culture and the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Benefits of Herbs in Chinese Medicine:

  1. Parsley is known for its ability to tonify blood. It also helps to regulate water retention and eliminate toxins because it has an affinity for the bladder and kidneys.

  2. Cilantro has an affinity for the spleen, stomach, lungs, & large intestine. It promotes digestion, aids in nausea, vomiting. It enhances the flushing of waste & toxins and promotes mental clarity.

  3. Oregano is known for its strong antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. In TCM oregano is used to treat colds, flus, fungal infections and stomach disorders. It has an affinity for the spleen, hearts, kidney & liver.
